About this extension
VelociPlay gives you fast, precise control over the playback speed of any HTML5 <video> or <audio> element, on any website — without digging through each player's menus.
Features
Works everywhere HTML5 media plays: YouTube, streaming sites, course platforms, podcasts, and local files.
Controls both video and audio elements.
Fine-grained speed from 0.07x to 16x in configurable steps.
A draggable on-media controller showing the current speed, which you can reposition anywhere.
Per-site speed rules — set a default speed for specific domains (e.g. always 2x on lecture sites).
Per-site disable — turn the controller off on sites where you don't want it.
Optional "remember speed" that persists your last speed across tabs and sessions.
Speed fightback — reapplies your chosen speed when a player tries to reset it.
Fully customizable keyboard shortcuts, including modifier combos and multiple preferred-speed toggles.
Custom controller CSS for advanced positioning and styling.
Import and export all your settings as a single file.
Default keyboard shortcuts
S slower · D faster · R reset to 1x · Z rewind · X advance · A preferred speed · V show/hide controller · P set marker · O jump to marker. All shortcuts are fully customizable in Settings.
Privacy
VelociPlay collects no data, sends nothing to any server, and makes no external network requests. It only stores your own settings locally through the browser's storage. The single "storage" permission is used solely for saving your preferences.
