    Version 0.1.40

    Released Aug 17, 2026 - 158.16 KB
Works with firefox 140.0 and later, android 142.0 and later
THIS VERSION (0.1.40) - previous listed version 0.1.34

    PERMISSION CHANGE - please note
    "declarativeNetRequest" is replaced by
"declarativeNetRequestWithHostAccess" - strictly narrower, as the rules only
apply to origins we already have host access to. The rules are unchanged:
the same two session rules, header-only, nothing blocked or redirected. The
plain permission triggered a blanket "block content on any page you visit"
install warning, which alarmed users; this extension blocks nothing.

FIXES - all local, no new permissions, hosts or endpoints
    • New users could hit an error telling them to turn off the "Only All
notifications" filter, while the control bar holding that checkbox was
hidden by the error state - the instruction was impossible to follow. The
controls now stay visible when a refresh fails.
    • That filter now defaults to OFF. It was on by default, but most YouTube
channels are set to "Personalized", so a new user's first refresh could
match zero channels and look broken.
    • Refresh could abort permanently with "N of N channel lookups failed": the
check compared failures against the channels lacking a cached id, a set
that decays to only the permanently unresolvable ones (deleted or renamed),
so it eventually tripped every run. It now stops only when there is
      genuinely nothing to scan.
    • Channel-id lookups (one page fetch each) now retry with backoff, run at
lower concurrency, and are batched at 150 per refresh. Large subscription
lists were throttled by YouTube and reported as mass failure; the remainder
is now shown as pending work, not an error.
    • Wording fixes.

    BUILD

No build step, bundler or minification: the packaged files are the source,
byte for byte. Only third-party file: Mozilla's webextension-polyfill
v0.12.0, unminified. No remote code is executed or evaluated.

PERMISSIONS AND DATA (otherwise unchanged from 0.1.34)

host_permissions is empty; all hosts are optional and requested at runtime,
only when the user first uses the feature needing them - youtube.com to read
the user's own subscriptions page (content script, DOM only) and fetch each
channel's public RSS feed, and the three AI providers only if the user
enables optional AI sorting or search with their own key.

Everything stays in storage.local. We run no server and receive no user
data. Only if the user enables an AI feature and enters their own key do
video titles and channel names go from their browser directly to the chosen
provider. data_collection_permissions declares websiteActivity because we
read the subscriptions page and public upload feeds.

    TESTING

No account needed. The dashboard works with no permissions and no key, and
manual sorting needs none (Organize button). For the import, open
youtube.com/feed/channels signed in to any account with subscriptions. AI
features need your own Anthropic, Google or OpenAI key; the extension ships
    none and they are optional.

    Version 0.1.34

    Released Aug 9, 2026 - 155.52 KB
Works with firefox 140.0 and later, android 142.0 and later
The extension is now called SubSorter. It was previously listed as
YT Auto-Organizer. Only the name changed - your categories, channel
assignments, watchlist and settings are all preserved.

Refreshes no longer lose videos on a bad connection. Previously, if
your connection faltered mid-refresh, the affected channels looked
empty rather than unreachable, and their uploads could quietly stop
counting as new. Now a failed connection is recognised as a failure:
a dead connection stops the refresh instead of half-completing, and
a channel that could not be reached keeps its uploads marked new
    until it is fetched successfully.

New "Rescan" button, next to Refresh. It redoes the last scan so
that anything the previous one missed counts as new again. Use it if
a refresh finished but brought back less than you expected.

The Watchlist can now be filtered by category, using the same
    categories as the main view.

  • Version 0.1.27

    Released Aug 2, 2026 - 151 KB
Works with firefox 140.0 and later, android 142.0 and later
The extension is now called SubSorter. It was previously listed as
    YT Auto-Organizer.

Only the name has changed. Your categories, channel assignments,
watchlist, settings and cached videos are all preserved — this is a
normal update, not a reinstall, so nothing is lost and there is
    nothing to set up again.

The name change avoids using "YouTube" or "YT" in the extension's
name, in line with YouTube's branding guidelines. SubSorter is an
independent tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or
    sponsored by YouTube or Google.

  • Version 0.1.22

    Released Jul 21, 2026 - 149.9 KB
Works with firefox 140.0 and later, android 142.0 and later
New: Watchlist - click the + on any video thumbnail to save it for later. Open the Watchlist (button under AI search) to view saved videos with their lengths, drag to reorder, remove, or export the list to a text file.

New: Hover previews - point at a video to play a few seconds of it inside the thumbnail. If your computer or connection is slow it may show a spinner instead; you can switch previews off in Settings.

Improved: More videos fit on screen and scrolling no longer jumps past a row - only the toolbar stays pinned, and the category chips moved up beside the Watchlist button.

Improved: Backups now include your collected video history, so a restore brings back older videos that YouTube can no longer re-send.

Fixed: Refresh and Sync Subs now return you to the video list instead of appearing to do nothing while a panel is open.
Fixed: Importing subscriptions captures every channel on long lists.
Fixed: Thumbnails that fail to load now retry instead of showing a blank box.
Fixed: The "Enable YouTube access" button now works correctly.

  • Version 0.1.20

    Released Jul 18, 2026 - 147.39 KB
Works with firefox 140.0 and later, android 142.0 and later
New: Watchlist - click the + on any video thumbnail to save it for later. Open the Watchlist panel (button under AI search) to view your saved videos, drag to reorder, remove, or export the list to a text file. The watchlist is included in Settings > Back up your data.

New: Hover preview - hold the mouse over a video thumbnail to play a short muted preview inside the card.

Fixed: importing subscriptions now captures every channel - long lists no longer lose a few.
Fixed: video thumbnails that fail to load now retry automatically instead of showing a blank box.
Fixed: the "Enable YouTube access" button now works correctly.

Privacy improvement: the extension no longer requests any site access at install. YouTube access is granted with one click on the dashboard, and each AI provider's access only when you choose that provider.

New: Back up and restore your data. Settings now has a "Back up your data" section - save your subscriptions, category assignments, and settings to a file, and restore them anytime (for example after a browser reset).

Fixed: On Firefox, if YouTube access wasn't turned on, importing subscriptions could silently do nothing. The dashboard now shows a clear "Enable YouTube access" button so importing always works.

Also included: videos no longer disappear from your feed on refresh - new uploads are kept as history instead of being replaced.
