About this extension
Coolant watches every tab for CPU/GPU-heavy visual effects — infinite CSS animations, backdrop-filter blur/glass effects, blend-modes, and autoplaying background videos — and suppresses them once they exceed a configurable size/duration threshold, without altering page content or layout. Features: • Three modes (Normal / Eco / Ultra) to control how aggressively effects are suppressed • Per-site enable/disable toggle • Live stats: how many elements/animations/videos are currently being suppressed on the active tab • Optional Debug Mode: a real, measured (not estimated) CPU-overhead report across all open tabs • Also offers an optional codec-preference hook that discourages VP9/HEVC playback in favor of lighter-weight codecs on CPU-constrained systems — automatically disabled on DRM-protected streaming sites (Netflix, Spotify, Disney+, Hulu, HBO Max, Prime Video, Twitch, Apple). All data stays on your device. Coolant does not collect, transmit, or sell any personal data.
